The birthplace of Zuko Džumhur is a testament to this notable native of Konjic — a writer and travel author, a man of open mind and generous spirit, for whom the entire world was but a single courtyard.

A Man of Generous, Open Spirit

One of the unique museums of the city of Konjic is the birthplace of Zulfikar Zuko Džumhur, which operates as an annex of the Konjic Heritage Museum and serves as a gallery space for numerous exhibitions and gatherings.
Zuko Džumhur was a well-known Konjic travel writer, caricaturist, and painter. He was born in 1920 and passed away in 1989. Zuko’s House has been owned by the City of Konjic since 1984. It houses authentic furniture crafted by Konjic woodcarvers, adorned with traditional motifs.

The museum displays numerous caricatures, paintings, awards, published and unpublished manuscripts, and the original outfits worn by Zuko. In addition, the museum features many photographs of Zuko’s family, friends, writers, and other people he encountered throughout his life.
Through its work, the House of Zuko Džumhur strives to keep alive the legacy of this celebrated native of Konjic and to preserve from oblivion all that future generations can proudly share with the world.
